Sulphur man arrested for failure to register as sex offender

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - Authorities with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a registered sex offender living in Sulphur for failure to register his new address with authorities.

Detectives arrested 23-year-old Ernest Town of Sulphur after learning he allegedly moved seven days prior to detectives visiting him to verify his address. He had not notified authorities of the move, and registered sex offenders are required to notify them of a change of address within three business days.

Town was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and was charged with failure to register as a sex offender. A judge set his bond at $15,000.
