CPSO to conduct roving DWI details this weekend

The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

Lake Charles, LA – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting two roving DWI details in the parish this weekend.

A roving detail is when there are extra deputies, in addition to regular scheduled patrol deputies, patrolling the parish strictly looking for individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.  Roving details have proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know these details are being done.

The DWI roving detail is funded by Project KNOW, a grant awarded to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office of Juvenile Justice Services.  This grant is being used to target underage drinking.

Rain chances remain about the same through the rest of the day as those bands of rain from the tropical wave move across the area.  The rain does taper off slightly during the overnight hours but is still a factor come tomorrow.
