WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) - A new twist in the saga involving the Westlake police chief who suspended a political rival. Chief Jeremy Cryer recently suspended Captain Michael Dickerson for two weeks after an incident at a local hair salon.

Now, Dickerson will be off the job until after the October 2nd election. Monday night, the Westlake City Council met behind closed doors in executive session with both Chief Cryer and Captain Dickerson. After the meeting, it was announced that Captain Dickerson would go on voluntary leave without pay unit after the election.
