LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A DeQuincy man turned himself in to authorities on Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest on bank fraud charges.

On May 21, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a call from Southwest Louisiana Credit Union in Lake Charles regarding bank fraud.

An investigation by the Sheriff's Office revealed that 27-year-old Ezell Wood, Jr. went into the Sulphur branch of the credit union and deposited a check for over $3,000. They say a couple of days later, Wood went back to the branch and withdrew the money. After making the withdrawal, the credit union says they discovered that the check he initially deposited was a counterfeit check.

After authorities investigated the case, a warrant was issued for Wood's arrest. On Monday, August 9, he turned himself in to authorities. During questioning by detectives, Wood confirmed to them he knew the check was counterfeit before he deposited it.

Wood was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He was charged with bank fraud.

A judge set his bond at $20,000.
