LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - According to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office, after considering evidence and performing an autopsy, the Jeff Davis Parish coroner says that 21-year-old Jayce Dupuis died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Physical and forensic evidence taken at the scene showed that Dupuis died from a single gunshot wound to the head. The coroner reportedly says the wound was self-inflicted.

Officials say a rifle recovered at the scene where his body was found last Thursday was taken from the house of a friend of Dupuis.

Dupuis' body was found on Thursday, August 5 under a railroad trestle near the intersection of Alice Street and Shannon Drive. He had been missing for several days.
