LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish detectives arrested a sex offender after they were notified by authorities in Michigan that he may have moved to Calcasieu Parish without properly registering.

On Monday, authorities in Calcasieu Parish received information from Michigan State Police that 65-year-old Terest Pete left the Ann Arbor, Michigan area around a year ago, and may have moved to Calcasieu Parish.

Detectives investigated, and found that he was living at a residence in Lake Charles. They went to the home on Broadmoore Street, and found Pete.

Pete was arrested and charged with failure to register as a sex offender. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

His bond was set at $1,500.

As required by law, when a sex offender moves they must notify the parish/county they are registered in of their plans to move. They must then register within three days with the parish/county they have moved to.
