LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's officials arrested an Iowa man on Tuesday and charged him with aggravated rape.

On June 22, authorities received a complaint regarding the molestation of a juvenile.

Reportedly, a 13-year-old girl said that from January 2008 until August 2009 40-year-old Michael Alder sexually abused her on numerous occasions.

An investigation revealed that Alder forced the girl, who was between 10 and 11 years old at the time, to perform numerous inappropriate sexual acts on him.

On Tuesday, further investigation led to Alder's arrest. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and was charged with aggravated rape.

A judge set his total bond at $600,000.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are ongoing across eastern Texas into northern Louisiana and these will move east toward SWLA overnight.  A few thunderstorms look possible across our area, but the greatest risk of severe weather is still well north of our area.  With that said there is a low chance that a few storms could be strong with gusty winds the primary concern, although a tornado is not impossible either.
