SHREVEPORT, LA (KPLC-TV)- Six teens are dead after a family trip to a Shreveport river turns tragic. Authorities say the teens were in the Red River Monday night, when they apparently went in too far and went off a steep drop-off. Frantic efforts to save the children failed. Rescuers six bodies. The victims were between the ages of 13 and 18. A 15 year-old survived.
Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and Caddo Schools Superintendent Dr. Gerald Dawkins are also on the scene with rescue crews. Area ministers are on the scene to help counsel the grief-stricken family.
"Please lift this family up in prayer," says Mayor Glover.
