Search continues for missing Jennings man

By Adam Hooper - bio | email

JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) - By air, by land, and by water, the search is on for 21-year old Jayce Ryan Dupuis.

He was last seen early Sunday morning by a friend, and now unnamed witness. The two of them were riding in a pickup truck when things took a turn for the worse.

According to police, as Dupuis was driving he struck a light pole in the Jennings Wal-Mart parking lot. It was a hard hit, but it did not stop there.

According to the Jeff Davis Sheriff's office later the truck was ditched in a nearby bayou. The attempt to sink the truck was unsuccessful. The truck was removed from the bayou, and hauled to Roadmaster towing yard.

Currently, police do not expect any foul play, and will continue to search in the area Dupuis was last seen.

"I hope we find the guy intact, and all healthy, and ready to go home," said Kane Thomas with Wildlife and Fisheries.

But Jayce Dupuis mother fears the worst, saying she believes he may already be dead.

"He would have called me. He always calls me when something has happened," said Gloria Sexton, Jayce Dupuis' mother.

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Jayce Ryan Dupuis, please contact Chief Deputy Larry Dupuis at the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's office. The number is (337) 824-3850.

Section 8 applicants will still face difficulties finding low rent housing

    Monday, July 24 2017 8:16 PM EDT2017-07-25 00:16:54 GMT

Part of the reason the waiting list takes for Section 8 Housing takes so long to pare down is because there's a shortage of Section 8 housing, at least in the Lake Charles area. It's because of the economy...and high rents.  Local officials are working to increase the dollars available, but it's still hard for residents to find the housing. "It's harder than Houston and Houston is bigger," said Kristina Broussard,  who lives in public hou...
