LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Chad Jones, the former LSU safety badly injured in a car accident in late June, has been waived by the New York Giants.
Jones, who was drafted in the 3rd round, had already signed a four year contract with an $825,000 signing bonus before the accident.
The move was made with the intention so that Jones could be placed on the non-football injury list, meaning the Giants still retain his rights if he were to return this season.
Jones is now in a Louisiana hospital and will require additional surgery over the coming months as he continues to recover.
