Sulphur man arrested for burglary

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Early Friday morning, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an alarm call at a school in Sulphur.

When deputies arrived, they walked around the school and checked the doors and windows and found a window had been broken out. Deputies then entered the building and found a man inside.

When the man saw the deputies, he exited the building and ran across the parking lot.

The man, later identified as 30-year old Don Alexander of Sulphur led deputies on a foot pursuit. He was soon apprehended.

Alexander was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He was charged with burglary, attempted theft under $300, criminal damage to property and resisting an officer. His bond was set at $5,000.

Afternoon Storms continue todayAfternoon Storms continue today

For the rest of the day, there will be more storms and showers that pop up in the afternoon. This is the new normal with the heat during the afternoon, and the extra moisture in the air. Not everyone will see rain, but if you are caught under one of these showers, you will likely see some heavy rainfall at times. Temperatures will still be hot today, especially where there is no rain. Highs will be in the lower 90s. Tonight, the rain should come to an end.
