Calcasieu Police Jury declares state of emergency

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish Police jurors declared a state of emergency on Thursday evening because of the current track of Tropical Storm Bonnie.

If the storm continues at its current speed and holds together, the storm could arrive as early as Sunday.

In related news, the Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced that they will hold a news conference on Friday at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the storm. You can watch this news conference live on KPLC, or on kplctv.com.

    Police are on scene of a multiple-vehicle fatal crash on I-10 West at Mile Marker 78, west of Crowley.  Multiple Air Med Helicopters are en route. Multiple emergency agencies are assisting with the crash.  According to a spokesman with Louisiana State Police, the crash resulted in a fatality.
