WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) – Whenever it comes to keeping your vehicle clean, you pretty much needed to wash it first, then wax it to seal and protect the paint. Now there's a product that claims to let you do both in the same step and it comes in a single bottle. It's the Rejuvenate Auto 15 Minute Wash & Wax Renewer.
The Wash & Wax Renewer combines surfactants, lifting agents, and wax in a milky liquid compound. The compound is in a spray bottle applicator, and requires a rag for application and for buffing. The substance works without the use of water and guarantees not to scratch your paint. Our kit comes with two microfiber cloths. The Rejuvenate Auto also claims to clean, restore, seal, and protect your vehicle's paint.
I use two vehicles to test out the Rejuvenate Auto. The first is a 2001 model year black sedan that has seen its fair share of scratches and relentless sunshine. Also, I have a 2003 model year silver sedan with a few blemishes. The black sedan is for spot and comparison testing. But I save the silver sedan to see if I can really clean it completely in fifteen minutes or less: the claim is in the product name. I find two key notes on the product instructions. It's not to be used in direct sunlight or on excessively dirty/sandy paint.
I start my trials on the black car. The hood is slightly soiled with dirt and water marks. As instructed, I apply a few squirts of product to the rag. I then a spray to the hood with product and I rub to pull away the dirt while applying the wax. I notice the dirt is replaced by a very light haze. I quickly buff away the haze with the second rag. The buffing reveals a noticeable shine. The superficial scratches disappear as promised, but the deeper scratches remain visible. The hood looks much better and shines brightly, but it's certainly does not look like new. I continue to use the Rejuvenate Auto Wash & Wax on a few other spots, and I find similar results.
Next, I challenge the fifteen minute time claim using the sliver sedan. I set the timer for fifteen minutes and get to work, moving as fast as I can. I apply the compound and buffing all surfaces, excluding the windows. I complete the entire surface of the car, minus windows, with about two and a half minutes remaining. The car finish went from dull and lightly soiled, to clean, smooth, and shiny in about thirteen minute's time. I was able to remove most bugs and goo without much trouble at all. Let me warn you though, I was moving fast and furiously. I'll note that under normal circumstances, I would take more time to ensure thoroughness.
I cleaned two cars and I utilized only a third of the liquid in the bottle. Keep in mind, the condition of your car may vary from the vehicles I used in this test. However, for the most part the results matched those claims of the product. So the Rejuvenate Auto 15 Minute Wash and Wax Renewer polishes its way to a YES for this week's "Does it Work?" test. The Rejuvenate Auto Wash & Wax Renewer Kit cost us just under $10 at an area business.
Web Extra: The Wash & Wax claims to work on all automotive finishes including: clear coat, acrylic, aluminum, Plexiglas, brass, enamels, gel coat, stainless steel, lacquer, fiberglass, and chrome. The product claims to have enough in a ten ounce bottle for up to four washes. I'm sure this depends on the size of the vehicle in which you choose to clean.
