UPDATE: The site is again declaring Gorgeous Got a Gun the winner of the contest and not Eleisha Eagle.

LAKE CHARLES, LA. (KPLC) - The huge local push seemed to spur singer songwriter Eleisha Eagle to victory in a music video contest--and then moments after the web site declared Eleisha the winner, it changed its banner headline and proclaimed the other band winner.  The quick switch left Eleisha's family and local supporters scratching their heads and wondering what to think just minutes after the  voting wrapped up at 11 p.m. Friday night.

The Lake Charles native entered a contest with 1000 other bands from around the country and had been vying for the number one spot with a band in Los Angeles.

On Friday night, family and close friends drummed up support at Gatti's Pizza in Lake Charles, asking customers to take a few moments to vote for Eleisha.

Eagle's concerts have raised over $90,000 for non-profit organizations in our area and now community members are trying to help her.

Eleisha hopes to get her song in the new Universal Studios movie, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," starring Michael Cera.  As explained in a news release, "Thanks to her fans, she remained in the #1 position for 3 weeks, helping to secure her spot in the next round.  A panel of judges then selected her as one of the Top 8 finalists, and after last week's round of voting she is now in the Top 2.  The band with the most fan votes at the end wins it all, having their music video on the "Scott Pilgrim" DVD and playing at the movie premiere in Los Angeles."

In order to compete, Eleisha had to put together a music video in 5 days with footage from the movie.  On the "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" web site (http://indierockvstheworld.sonicbids.com). Voting for the final round ended at 11 p.m. central time Friday and within seconds the web site declared her the winner, but unfortunately it apparently didn't stick.

Eleisha is in the process of trying to sort through the confusion and promises to keep family and friends posted.

For the Oakdale Police Department one of their constant battles isn't necessarily with criminals, but instead with their phones. Their phone lines were down for most of the weekend, and just got back up yesterday, but this isn't the first time they've dealt with this.  The phones are ringing at the Oakdale Police Department now, but this past weekend that wasn’t the case.  “Friday evening our phones went down,” said police chief, Joseph Lockett. ...More >>
