LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A blown transformer sent power lines falling early this morning on Ryan Street right across from McNeese State University.

The incident caused several businesses along Ryan Street to suffer a power outage.  Lake Charles Police had to block off the street from McNeese Street to Sale Road while repairs

Leonard Francis, a plumber at MSU was able to see some of what happened and said, "well all I heard was a thud and all of a sudden, I seen a fireball, then after that, they had another loud thud and another fire ball and then another one moments after that, so it was just working its way down on Ryan Street in the vicinity...the way I understand, a cable broke and it just traveled down on the other fire line and caused this explosion and power outage."

No injuries were reported, and after a few hours, the road block was lifted.
