A new home for a very old house

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - It could be the oldest house still standing in Lake Charles, but it will soon stand somewhere else.

In the late 1800's, John Khoury and his wife were immigrants from Lebanon who moved to Lake Charles.

They built a house and lived in what's known as "Goosport", which is in north Lake Charles.  In 1908, they moved their house to where it is today on Shell Beach Drive.

No one has lived in the home for over a year now, and it will soon be moved to the 1000 block of Pujo Street in the Historic District.

The move will take place at the end of the month.  It is expected to take six months to a year to restore the home before it is sold.
