Lining up for deals at the old Lakefront Hotel

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -If you love a big garage sale, you'll probably enjoy the big liquidation sale at the old Harrah's Hotel on Lakeshore drive.@

They came from far and wide at 10 a.m. Thursday morning looking for a bargain.  There were so many people they wouldn't let them all in at once. So they let groups of about fifty in every twenty minutes or so.  Eventually the line began moving fairly quickly and by the end of the day the line was next to nothing.

Some came to look for home furnishings, while others want items for business. Raymond Smith wants bar stools items for his cafe, called Mee Mee's in Morse Louisiana..

Cecil Musgrove got a great deal on a bed.  He explained how you go in, choose your items, pay for them, get a sold sticker to place on them and come back with a receipt to pick up your items.

And some like John Malveaux were there because, well,  his mama roped him into helping her get new toilets for Grandma's house...

There are lines inside to settle up your account but no doubt worth the effort for those who hopin to find a really good deal.

Pinnacle Entertainment contracted NCL/National Content Liquidators to clear the hotel of its current contents as a prelude to the property's redevelopment.  The 250 room hotel contents will be sold for the next 30 days from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
