Man dies in early morning crash on I-210

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man died in a one car accident that happened early Thursday morning on Interstate 210.

The accident happened on I-210 eastbound just before the Lake Street exit at 3:52 a.m.

Authorities say the driver of a 2006 Pontiac G6 lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle reportedly went off of the roadway to the right and drifted sideways with the passenger side crashing into the overhead sign support.

The passenger in the rear of the vehicle, 30-year-old Nikolaus Smith, died from the injuries he received in the accident.

The driver, Sean Kelley, and the front seat passenger, Joshua Tate, were both transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released.

Toxicology reports are pending.
