Bossier officer arrested in family altercation

BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - A Bossier City police sergeant has been arrested following a family altercation.

A police spokesman tells The Times that James Cole was arrested Saturday after police responded to reports of a disturbance at Cole's mother's house in south Bossier City.

After an argument with his mother, police say Cole allegedly struck her several times with his hands, damaged items inside the house including a window and at one point prevented her from leaving her own home.

Cole was booked on one count of simple battery under the Family Violence Act, one count of simple criminal property damage and one count of false imprisonment.

Police say Cole was on paid administrative leave.

It was not immediately known whether Cole has an attorney.
