Calcasieu Sheriff's Deputies in standoff with armed man near Iowa

UPDATE: The situation on Packing House Road has been resolved peacefully. The CPSO has taken the man into custody and he is currently being brought to a local hospital.

Iowa, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu Sheriff's Deputies are currently in a standoff situation with a man who says he'll kill any Deputy who comes near him.

Authorities say that around 4 A.M. this morning, an ambulance was called out to a home at 183 Packing House Road, west of Iowa.

The man met ambulance workers on the porch armed with a gun.

The ambulance workers then called the CPSO and when they got to the house, the man had barricaded himself inside.

He threatened Deputies saying he would kill any police officer who advanced on the home.

There is a crisis negotiator on the scene.

    Louisiana's senators have agreed to allow the state's riverboat casinos to move on land. The Senate voted 22-14 Tuesday for the proposal by Sen. Ronnie Johns, a Lake Charles Republican. The measure would allow Louisiana's 15 riverboat casinos to conduct gambling activities within 1,200 feet on land from where the riverboat is berthed and remove the requirement the riverboats have an operable paddlewheel.
