The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

Lake Charles, LA – On June 22, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a call from the U.S. Secret Service regarding an ongoing investigation they were conducting involving manufacturing of counterfeit money by 22-year-old Joshua A. Walker of Lake Charles.

When questioned by detectives, Walker, who was already incarcerated because when he was stopped for a traffic offense it was learned he had an outstanding narcotics warrant, confirmed he manufactured counterfeit money at his home.  He stated he passed some of the money to local businesses and to pay a family caregiver.

He also told detectives in May he burned approximately $75,000 of the counterfeit money in his back yard when he learned he was under suspicion by law enforcement for possession of drugs.

Walker was arrested last Thursday and was charged with monetary instrument abuse.

His bond was set at $25,000.
