LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - You have to be proud of your accomplishments if your picture is posted at the Hall of Fame.

Five local athletes had their pictures added to the Southwest Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame display at the Prien Lake Mall.

Quiana Griffin and Garin Cecchini from Barbe High School, Jenna Diakos from South Beauregard High School, and Shelby Willis and Ross Rowland from South Cameron High School are all now official members.

Each athlete says this is one of the biggest honors they've ever received.

"Words can't even explain," Willis said.  "It's an honor.  Every time I've walked through here, I've always looked at it.  I've always wanted to be on here and now I'm actually on here.  So it's a great feeling."

"It means a lot," Rowland said.  "It says a lot about me that I can do that, be able to maintain my GPA and play sports at the same time.  It's very hard work and I'm very proud of myself."

"It's an honor," Griffin said.  "I've walked through the mall thousands of times and seen everyone who has been inducted.  I ran track with them for a lot of years.  It's been my goal since I was little to be inducted into the hall so it's an honor."

"If you keep your mind focused, you can get where you're supposed to be," Diakos said.  "I've been through a lot of circumstances, a lot of ups and downs, but just keeping my focus straight and it was possible."

Cecchini was unable to attend the final ceremony.
