LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – Jacob Lejeune finished 16-under in the final round of the Cameron State Bank Men's City Championship to earn his first victory at the tournament.
Lejeune set a new tournament record, as he completed the last day shooting an impressive 66. The first time champion began the final round with a four shot lead over the competition.
Lejeune shot below 70 over the course of the three day event. He opened the first round with a 69 and followed up shooting a 65 on day two.
Lejeune stated, "Pretty much hasn't set in yet. I've had the pleasure of playing with most of the guys I played with today and throughout the whole tournament pretty regularly, so it's pretty exciting."
Robbie Going played Lejeune closely, also shooting 66 in the final round. Going finished 12-under in second place.
"I was just hoping to come out and shoot around even par, maybe one or two under if I could," said Lejeune. "I just got to hand it to Robbie Going, he put the pressure on me today, played with him all three days and he played very well."
Jason Horn, last years Men's City Champion, finished in third place, shooting 70 in the final round, while Bill Stevens finished fourth, shooting 73.
