WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested two people from Westlake on second degree cruelty to a juvenile charges.

The authorities received information from the Office of Child Services regarding a two-year-old girl who was taken to a local hospital by her mother at the beginning of June.

According to OCS, after the child was examined by doctors it was determined that the girl had a fracture to her right thigh bone.

According to the CPSO, an investigation revealed that the injury was caused by 24-year-old Bryan McGuess while the child was in his care. It was also learned that 22-year-old Amanda Tullos, the mother of the child, knew the injury to her daughter's leg was caused by McGuess, but she was reportedly dishonest to detectives about the cause.

On June 17, McGuess and Tullos were both arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with second degree cruelty to a juvenile.

A judge set McGuess' bond at $100,000 and Tullos' at $50,000.

The child and her 2-month-old sibling have been removed from the house and placed in foster care.
