Calcasieu Federal Employees Credit Union is a state-chartered, federally insured not-for-profit member-owned financial institution serving federal employees and their family members in the 706 zip code area of Louisiana. Members enjoy competitive rates, low fees, and friendly, personal service. Experience the Credit Union difference!
Calcasieu Federal Employees Credit Union is the oldest credit union in Lake Charles, Louisiana, organized and chartered in 1946. Basic saving and borrowing services were provided to the charter members out of the pocket of CFECU's first treasurer and organizer of the credit union -- a postal employee named James Lusby. James Lusby had the foresight to not only create a member-owned financial institution for his co-postal employees, but for all of the federal employees and families working and/or living in Calcasieu Parish.
Over the past 60 years, CFECU has grown from the first 16 members and a small amount of pocket money to approximately 2800 members and over $14 million dollars in assets. Our membership has expanded to federal employees and their families not only living and/or working in Calcasieu Parish but who live and/or work in the 706 zip code, which allows CFECU to serve many other cities and small towns in Southwest Louisiana.
Calcasieu Federal Employees Credit Union still prides itself on not only being the 1st Credit Union in Lake Charles, but also putting their members 1st.
