"Swamp Shark" nears end of production in Acadiana

HENDERSON, LA (KPLC) - Film crews have just a few days left to complete the production of a sci-fi feature length film at Pat's Restaurant in Henderson, Louisiana.

The movie, "Swamp Shark," turns the Louisiana restaurant into an action packed scene where a shark makes its way into the bayou.

The film features a few familiar faces like Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Kristy Swanson.

Swanson plays Rachel Broussard, who owns the restaurant known as "The Gator Shed."

At one point in the movie, the restaurant is attacked by a shark that begins eating and killing people.

The film also features a few new faces, like Jason Rogel.

Rogel said he is thrilled to be a part of this action packed story.

"I got to do my own stunts in this, I survived my first stunt crash which was pretty awesome," said Rogel.

And another new face is Actor Gary Sinise's daughter Sophia Sinise, who says she couldn't ask for a better crew.

"It's so laid back here and people are so nice," said Sinise. "I love the southern feel."

But the actors said the location was challenging at times, however.

"It's not easy to shoot on boats, that's always tough," said Swanson.

The crew also said the weather is also problem.

"You go out and get hit by this wave of heat every time we film," said Rogel.

"It's very hot here and sweaty out here and there are lots of bugs," said Swanson.

However, the actors said the atmosphere does go well with the movie.

"The elements are hard, but it adds to the story. It adds to the film, which is cool," said Swanson.

The crew plans to have the production completed by this weekend.

"I'm excited to see it and see how it's going to turn out," said Sinise.

"Swamp Shark" is expected to debut on the Sci-Fi channel in 2011.

Sunshine returns this weekSunshine returns this week

Tonight, it will be very pleasant outside. There will be no chance for rain, and the clouds will continue to clear. With the clouds going away, that will allow temperatures to cool down overnight. Lows will be in the mid 50s. You may need a jacket as you head out the door Monday morning. Monday and Tuesday next week will be very nice to get outside. After the cold front pushes past us over the weekend, there should be plenty of sunshine. Although a few clouds are possible.
