BEAUREGARD, LA (KPLC) - The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting that 26-year-old Cody Fletcher of Merryville was arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of Aggravated Burglary.

Fletcher, who is already in jail on unrelated charges, was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Theft of a Firearm for a burglary that occurred at a residence in Merryville in 2009.

DNA evidence recovered at the scene linked Fletcher to the crime and his bond was set at $90,000

The Sheriff's Office is also investigating several four wheeler thefts that have happened recently on the eastern side of the parish.

The thefts are believed to be the work of ring which has been operating to the east of the Parish that has ties to Texas.

The Sheriffs Office is reminding residents to secure their machines and to report any suspicious vehicles that may be in the area.

    Nationally, according to the FBI, only 64% of homicide cases are solved but the Lake Charles Police Department has had only two cold cases since 2001.
