LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies report that 37-year-old Wilford L. Edwards has been arrested in connection with an overnight murder in south Lake Charles.

We're told 53-year-old Aldwin Smith was found dead around midnight in a home at 120 Predium Road, that's off Common Street, just south of McNeese Street.

Deputies then arrested Edwards without incident at 6:00 a.m.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso says Smith may have been killed during an altercation.

Edwards has been charged with 2nd degree murder and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center with a bond of $500,000.
