Former Mandeville Mayor sentenced to jail time

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Former Mandeville Mayor Eddie Price has been sentenced to more than five years in prison following his guilty plea in a federal corruption case.

U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman on Thursday sentenced the 56-year-old Price to 64 months in prison and ordered him to pay nearly $18,000 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.

Price pleaded guilty in October to honest services mail fraud and income tax evasion. He admitted he accepted expensive trips from the city's engineer and a developer and used campaign funds to pay for personal expenses, including gambling debts.
