The Children's Museum is a 501 c3 non-profit organization with a 22-year history of promoting the Arts and Humanities in Southwest Louisiana. From its inception in 1988, the museum has consistently provided interpretive exhibits that encompass music, visual and performing arts, folk life, storytelling, and art education.
The Children's Museum is a member of the United Way family of organizations, as well as a recipient of support from the Children's Miracle Network, the Arts and Humanities of Southwest Louisiana, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, the SWLA Convention and Visitors Bureau, local individuals and corporations, and its many visitors from across the United States and around the world.
The museum enjoys partnerships with the Junior League of Lake Charles, McNeese State University, the Lake Area Industry Alliance, the Newcomers Club of Lake Charles, Art Associates of Lake Charles and the Safety Council of Southwest Louisiana. Recently the museum entered a major partnership with the State of Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish, the City of Sulphur and the City of Lake Charles.
We are the only destination of its kind between Houston and Lafayette. We offer over 21,000 square feet encompassing three floors of a historical building in the heart of downtown Lake Charles! The Children's Museum provides an educational and fun environment that encourages curiosity, creativity and social skills through hands on programs and exhibits.
