LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Six McNeese State athletic programs have been sanctioned by the NCAA over their Academic Progress Rate scores.

The football team, baseball team, men's indoor track, women's indoor track, men's outdoor track, and women's cross country all have suffered penalties.

A report from the Associated Press says McNeese was the second-most sanctioned school in Division 1, behind Florida International and Southeastern Louisiana who each had seven teams penalized.

These sanctions are based on four years of data, ranging from the 2005-2006 academic year through 2008-2009 academic year.

The number of McNeese teams sanctioned actually went down from last season.  MSU had eight programs sanctioned in 2009.  Now that women's basketball and women's outdoor track have been taken off of the list, that number is down to just six.

Here are the penalties sent down from the NCAA:

- Men's Indoor Track: Limited to 18.0 hours of countable activity per week (historical penalty), put on public notice

- Men's Outdoor Track: Limited to 18.0 hours of countable activity per week (historical penalty), put on public notice

- Baseball: Limited to awarding the equivalency value of 11.06 financial aid awards (contemporaneous penalty)

- Football: Limited to awarding aid to 27 initial counters, limited to awarding aid to 79 overall counters, limited to awarding the equivalency value of 59.99 financial aid award (contemporaneous penalty)

- Women's Cross Country: Limited to awarding the equivalency value of 16.69 financial aid awards (contemporaneous penalty)

- Women's Indoor Track: Limited to awarding the equivalency value of 16.69 financial aid awards (contemporaneous penalty)
