DEQUINCY, LA (KPLC) - The Ward Six Fire Department was called to a house fire on Thursday, June 3 around 11:00 p.m. The home was located on the corner of Highway 389 & Monk Dickerson Road in DeQuincy. Upon our arrival, flames were venting through the roof of the home.

Mutual Aid assistance was requested and received from the following fire departments; DeQuincy, Oretta, Houston River, Gordon, Fields, Westlake.

Despite the efforts of more than 40 firefighters on scene, the home, which was only a year old, was a total loss.

Firefighters remained on scene until 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning, and we were called back to the location at 9:30 a.m. to extinguish a small fire which had rekindled.
