LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A public hearing was held today at Chennault International Airport discussing the proposed budget for the new fiscal year, which is set to create new jobs.

Since 2005, the airport has undergone repairs for damage done by Hurricane Rita.  Just a few months ago, those repairs were completed which means the Airport has more money to invest in up-grading its infrastructure which could create more jobs.

Randy Robb, Executive Director, says, "we're trying to slim down, so we can continue to build for tenants and for prospective tenants....we've got to use some of that money to work so that we can increase job numbers here in Lake Charles.")

The new fiscal year begins July 1st and will end on June 30, 2011.
