LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The 2010 Cowboy baseball season came to an end in the Southland Conference Tournament.  The Pokes dropped their second game in a row to the Lamar Cardinals, 9-3.  That loss eliminated the Cowboys from the tournament.

McNeese starter Taylor Ducoff gave up four runs in the first inning and McNeese was never able to come all the way back.  Ducoff did recover to give up just five runs in 3.2 innings.

Andy Riche' led the way offensively for McNeese.  He went 1-1, with an RBI and two walks.

In order to get to the Lamar game, the Cowboys played Southeastern earlier in the day.

Bryn Thompson was the hero this time, as McNeese State eliminated the Southeastern Lions from the Southland Conference tournament, 5-4.

With the Cowboys trailing 4-3, Thompson came to the plate with a runner on in the top of the ninth.  He then hit a two-run bomb to give McNeese the lead and the eventual win.

That was the second time during the tournament McNeese defeated the Lions via some ninth inning heroics.

The Cowboys finish the 2010 season with a 31-27 overall record.
