LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The few times McNeese State softball got something going, LSU was able to shut them down.

LSU received five strong innings from starter Rachele Fico as they shut out MSU, 6-0.

McNeese State's starter Meagan Bond had a rough game and was pulled early.  She went two innings, giving up four runs on three hits.

Both Ashley Langoni and Kirsten Shortridge had two RBI's each for LSU.  Shortridge hit a two-run home run in the second inning.  MSU only was able to get four hits in the game.  McNeese also struck out nine times as a team.

This loss means MSU will now play Texas A&M in an elimination game on Saturday, May 22nd.  First pitch is at 3:00pm.  The winner of that game will play the loser of the LSU vs. UL-Lafayette game.  That matchup is scheduled for noon on the 22nd.
