Oil impacts local business in a positive way

By Brandon Troullier - bio | email

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - For the past month, our coastal wetlands and environment have been affected by the oil spill in the gulf.  Yet, Lake Charles Tackle is actually benefiting from this disaster.

Manager Tyler Tullier says, "we're getting all the people who are fishing on the other end of the state, they're coming over here...and we're taking care of them."

Seems like real good news, but the oil has also canceled the SWLA Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo that was set to take place 4th of July weekend.  For the past several years, Tullier has participated in this event.  "I always look forward to it, its the start of great weather....its going to be a lot of disappointed people."

Like many people around here, he will just have to wait and hope it doesn't come our way.
