The following is a news release from the Louisiana State Police:

On Wednesday, Louisiana State Police Region 2 detectives arrested a Ville Platte man in connection with the homicide that occurred on May 11, 2010.

State Police detectives as well as investigators from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and officers with the Ville Platte Police Department have worked tirelessly over the last week to locate the person or persons responsible for the death of 18-year-old Elizabeth Fontenot.  On Wednesday, troopers issued a warrant for 34-year-old Ordesto M. Toussaint of Ville Platte, LA.

Through the course of investigation, investigators seized items found at the crime scene.  Based on the physical and forensic evidence seized, investigators were able to identify Toussaint as a suspect in the crime.  During investigation, investigators also learned Fontenot's death was the result of blunt force trauma. Investigators continued to gather evidence and were able to link Toussaint to the death of Fontenot.

Late last night, Toussaint was detained in connection with the homicide.  Today, investigators obtained a warrant for Toussaint's arrest for 2nd degree murder.  Investigators served Toussaint with the warrant and he was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail.  The case remains under investigation.
