LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – McNeese State Softball will head to Baton Rouge for the regional round of the NCAA tournament.

The no. 4 seeded Cowgirls will face top seeded LSU, who is the no. 12 overall seed in the tournament.

The duos first matchup this season in Lake Charles, LA went in favor of the Tigers, but the Cowgirls won the second meeting in Baton Rouge, LA.

Head coach Natalie Poole spoke to 7Sports after the Cowgirls learned they will face a familiar opponent.

Poole stated, "I'm definitely exited to be playing near home, we should get a good crowd out at LSU. I think that our girls feel confident," said Poole. "You know, they've played UL [Lafayette], they played LSU, we know what to expect. We know they've got some good hitters, as well as the fast game. It's been nice to beat them at their home places… so I feel good about that."

The Cowgirls will play the Tigers on Friday, May 21st. The time has yet to be announced.
