LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Three Lake Area teams have huge playoff games.
Barbe is playing in the Class 5A quarterfinals in New Orleans. St. Louis and Sam Houston have semi-final games in Class 4A. Both of those teams are playing in Ruston.
Check back here throughout the night for updates on these games.
CLASS 5A (NEW ORLEANS, LA)
#7 Barbe defeats #15 Central, B.R., 5-2 in 9 innings
A walk-off home run by Nick Powell in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Bucs a huge 5-2 victory over Central, B.R. in the 5A quarterfinals. Barbe tied the game at two in the fifth inning when Jared Foster drew a two-out walk with the bases loaded.
The Bucs will now play #3 Lafayette in the semi-final round. That matchup is on May 15th at 11am. The winner advances to the state title game.
CLASS 4A (RUSTON, LA)
#5 Belle Chasse defeats #25 St. Louis, 2-1
It will probably be a difficult loss for Saints fans to take. St. Louis took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning. But three Saints errors in the sixth allowed Belle Chasse to score two runs on their way to a 2-1 victory.
Reid Chavez had the only RBI for the Saints. His RBI single in the second inning scored the only St. Louis run.
#11 Teurlings defeats #18 Sam Houston, 10-0 in 6 innings
The Broncos could never really get going in this one as Teurlings had a dominant performance, winning 10-0 in six innings.
Teurlings got off to a very quick start, scoring six runs in the first two innings to go up 6-0. There were two rain delays during the game as storms moved through the Ruston area. But the rain did not cool off Teurlings' bats as they were victorious via the ten-run rule.
