Texas State baseball crushed McNeese State in game one of their weekend series, 13-1 in seven innings. The game was called via the ten run rule.
This loss drops the Cowboys' overall record to 26-19, 14-11 in Southland Conference play.
McNeese State's hitters were only able to get one run on two hits. Their only run of the game came when Blake Ellender scored on a throwing error in the first inning.
Texas State starter Carson Smith was dominant. He struck out nine Cowboys on his way to a complete game victory.
The Bobcats put the game away in the fifth inning. Texas State scored six runs, making the score 10-1.
MSU's starter Dustin Lloyd had a rough game. In just 4.2 innings of work, Lloyd gave up ten runs on ten hits.
Games two and three of the series will be played on May 8th and 9th.
