CAMERON, LA (KPLC) - At one time, the Cameron Branch Library served its public - then Hurricane Rita destroyed the building. A temporary library was constructed, but then Hurricane Ike destroyed it too. Cameron authorities and residents are hoping that the third time is the charm as the library had a grand re-re-opening Monday afternoon.
The facilities are in a temporary building until a more permanent one is found or constructed. Still, having the library open its doors is a sign that Cameron is on its way back.
Cyndi Sellers, President of Library Board of Controls grew up in Cameron and says, "it means so much to the community, we don't have a school here anymore and so this it the heart of our community."
Library hours are Monday through Thursday 8am-6pm, Fridays 8am-4pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm.
