LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The New Orleans Saints have announced that they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with unrestricted free agent safety Darren Sharper.

The deal will bring the Pro Bowl safety back to New Orleans for a second season, following last year in which he picked off 9 passes and set an NFL record for interception return yardage, with 376.

Sharper also leads all active players in the NFL with 63 interceptions.

The deal comes on the eve of rumors that the Jacksonville Jaguars were making a strong push for Sharper to sign with them.
