LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - He's probably the most popular athlete in Louisiana right now.
And he knows the best way to keep that title is to win another NFL title.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees was in Bossier City recently. He was hanging out with the US Air Force Thunderbirds at Barksdale Air Force Base. Then when it was over, Brees took some time to talk to reporters.
Brees says his team is very much aware of the huge challenge they have ahead of them in 2010.
After all, defending a world championship is never an easy task.
"More so than anything, the advice I've tried to go out and get this off-season has been how to put together another great season after you've reached that pinnacle of success," Brees said. "I think human nature tells you to just kind of relax, that you've arrived and you've accomplished what you've set out to accomplish. But there's always another challenge around the corner. Certainly, I'd like to rattle off a few of these before my time is done. So that's the focus right now is figuring out how we can get better and how we can continue to stay on top."
The Saints will open up the 2010 season in the Superdome on Thursday, September 9th. The Minnesota Vikings will be in town.
