CAMERON, LA (KPLC) - The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has some local fisherman concerned. Many of them like Philip LeJeune Sr. have been in the industry most of their lives, and if the oil ends up in state waters, he says, "it would devastate him and that this is the worst time for something like this to happen."
But the fisherman aren't the only ones who would suffer. David Gonzales, a dockhand for Cameron Fisheries says, "its a chain reaction, it hurts everybody".
Coast Guard officials started a test burn late on Wednesday to see if they can keep the oil from reaching the Gulf Coast.
