LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The 2nd annual "Go Orange" event continues to fight animal cruelty in the Lake Area. Several cute dogs and cats were also decked out in orange - all are up for adoption and looking for good homes. Organizers say April - just happens to be "prevent animal cruelty month" and helps the Calcasieu Animal Coalition spread their message and raise awareness.

"We are a community of animal rescuers and lovers that are passionate about finding homes for homeless animals and cutting down on animal cruelty. Over population and other issues that can help reduce the need for rescue groups," explained Sheila Gilley, with 4 Paws Society.

The Calcasieu Animal Coalition is made up of the following organizations:

The Southwest Louisiana Humane Society

4 Paws Society

Hobo Hotel For Cats

Calcasieu Animal Services

Anyone wishing to volunteer with this cause can call 488-3478.
