LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Saturday night downtown Lake Charles was not only the destination for a good time, but a good cause. The Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital hosted their 2nd annual "White Linen Night."

For 100 dollars - party goers had their share of good drinks, food and company... Not to mention great music.

"The food is excellent, the music is great and Elijah and I even had a turn at dancing," said Nomika Guillory. "It's going to be a long night, but I'm going to be here all night!"

"The wonderful thing is how the weather has cleared up. People said you will likely have to council, but I said it's going to be great and it is. People are out wearing their white linen and eating at the restaurants and support the cause. We can't thank them enough," said Leif Pederson, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital VP of Philanthropy.

The event also included silent and live auctions with some of the Lake Area's finest artists. Organizers expected to raise about 50-thousand dollars. All proceeds benefits the Foundation's special programs.

It's not unusual to hear complaints about the U.S. Postal Service in our area. The latest comes from a neighborhood off Nelson Road where residents say they no longer get daily delivery. "Whether snow, sleet or rain or whatever it   should be delivered," said Terry Bellard, who lives at Smith Village mobile home community. Residents say their mail is no longer delivered regularly.
