The following is a news release from Thom Hager, President of the Southern Indoor Football League:
LAKE CHARLES, LA – The Louisiana Swashbucklers professional indoor football team has decided that the time is finally right to pass the baton to the Lake Charles community. The team, which plays in the Southern Indoor Football League, has been successfully run by owner Thom Hager since its inception in 2005 and is now mature enough to sell.
Some may wonder why the change comes now, and the answer is simple: as President of the SIFL, Mr. Hager has a conflict in owning both the league and its marquee team. "The Swashbucklers have been my focus for the past five years, and owning the team has brought me a tremendous feeling of accomplishment" said Hager, "but now that the league is on the cusp of significant growth, it is only fair that my energies are directed toward the stewardship of the SIFL in full. I do plan to stay on board throughout the transition."
As a result, Mr. Hager feels that by forming a local ownership group, the team can remain community owned, and a fixture in Lake Charles for many years to come. The Swashbucklers have retained The Sports Advisory Group to work with local investors who are interested in participating in this opportunity, and will hold an investor informational meeting on May 12th to provide additional details.
