BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana experienced some post-recession economic rebound in March as the state added 6,500 non-farm jobs.
The Louisiana Workforce Commission says that on a non-seasonally adjusted basis, goods-producing employment - including petroleum, manufacturing and construction - shed 3,200 jobs, while the service providing-sector picked up 9,700.
With seasonal factors put into the mix, the agency says there was an overall loss of 3,800 jobs.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 6.9 percent, down from 7.3 percent in March. The national rate was 9.7 percent for both March and February.
