Bryce Perkins trial postponed

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The trial of a man who allegedly shot and killed a marine back in July of 2009 will not go forward on May 3.

Bryce Perkins is to be tried on the charge of second degree murder.

The defense plans to argue that the shooting was an accident, and they are trying to get statements from the district attorney that would support their theory.

However, prosecutor Rick Bryant says they have already been given everything they are entitled to.

The defense says they have not had adequate time to prepare.

Judge Robert Wyatt agreed to continue with the trial. A new trial date has not yet been set.
