CAMERON, LA (KPLC) - Sad news to pass along - Cameron Parish Police Jury President Steve Racca has passed away. We're told Racca had been in and out of the hospital over the last several months and died some time Tuesday afternoon.

Racca was elected to the Cameron Parish Police Jury in 2007 and was the long-time vocational agriculture teacher at Hackberry High School before retiring. Fellow jurors tell us he was also a founding member of the Marshland Festival which helps raise money for the youth of Hackberry.

At this time funeral arrangements are still pending.
